# YouTube & Snapchat (beta)

> Organic programs and run as creator on YouTube Shorts and Snapchat, by approval.

Source: https://www.onlucra.com/docs/youtube-snapchat

YouTube and Snapchat work like Instagram and TikTok on Lucra: creators earn on their organic posts, and brands run creators' work as ads from the creator's own account. Both are in **beta**.

## Beta access

The beta is by approval only. Ask your Lucra contact to add you, as a brand, partner or creator, and say which part you want: organic programs, running ads as the creator, or both. Lucra turns each on per person. Once it's on, YouTube and Snapchat show up everywhere Instagram and TikTok do: in social connections, when you create a program, and in the campaign builder.

Until then they stay hidden in the app, and the API refuses them with `403 feature_not_enabled`:

| Request | Needs |
| --- | --- |
| `POST /v1/connections` with `youtube` or `snapchat`, as a creator | Organic |
| `POST /v1/programs` with `youtube` or `snapchat` in `platforms` | Organic |
| `POST /v1/ad-authorizations` with `platform: "snapchat"` | Run as creator |
| `POST /v1/submissions` with a YouTube `post` on a Google connection | Run as creator |

Everything else about the beta behaves as it will at launch: the same requests, responses and webhooks. What may change during the beta is noted below.

## Creators: connect your account

In **Settings → Social connections**, connect YouTube or Snapchat. You sign in on Google or Snapchat, never on Lucra.

| Platform | You sign in with | Posts you can submit | Lucra reads |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| YouTube | The Google account your channel is on | Shorts | Your Shorts, their views, likes and comments, and YouTube Analytics engaged views |
| Snapchat | Your Snapchat account with a Public Profile | Spotlight and saved Stories | Your Spotlight and saved Stories with their views, shares and replies |

Lucra only reads. It never posts, deletes or changes anything on your channel or profile. Disconnect any time from the connection's menu.

Regular YouTube videos and 24-hour Snapchat Stories can't be submitted: a long video isn't a Short, and a Story is gone before its views can be checked. Save a Story to your profile to submit it.

## Organic programs

A brand adds YouTube or Snapchat to a program's platforms. Creators in the program submit a post from their connected account, the same way as on TikTok or Instagram, and Lucra measures it from the platform:

| | YouTube | Snapchat |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Posts | Shorts | Spotlight and saved Stories |
| Paid on | **Engaged views**, from YouTube Analytics | Views |
| Settles | 3 days after the measurement ends, once YouTube's numbers settle | When the measurement ends |

Engaged views are the count YouTube itself uses for Shorts revenue: they leave out quick swipe-pasts, so they're lower than the public view count and harder to inflate. Pay per 1,000 views, caps and the measurement window (1 to 30 days) work exactly as on the other platforms. See [Programs](https://www.onlucra.com/docs/api-programs#pay) and [Payments](https://www.onlucra.com/docs/api-payments#pay).

Over the API, it's the same program with more `platforms`:

```json
{
  "name": "Shorts launch",
  "type": "organic",
  "visibility": "network",
  "platforms": ["tiktok", "instagram", "youtube", "snapchat"],
  "pay": { "rules": [{ "per": "view", "amount": 800, "unit": 1000 }], "cap": 50000,
    "schedule": { "after": "measurement", "days": 7 } }
}
```

A creator connects with `POST /v1/connections` and `{ "provider": "youtube" }` or `"snapchat"`, acting as the creator. Their posts show in `GET /v1/posts` with `platform: "youtube"` or `"snapchat"`.

### Fraud checks

Every post gets the same checks as on Instagram and TikTok. Lucra reads its views and engagement every hour and holds it for your review when something looks off:

- views that jump, or grow too evenly to be real people
- views that go down, or too little engagement for the views
- gaps in the readings, or a post that's deleted or moved to another account
- on YouTube, engaged views far below the public view count, a sign of replayed or autoplayed views

A post can only be paid once, by one brand. `GET /v1/posts/:id` shows the hourly readings and the reasons behind a post's `confidence`.

## Run as the creator

Brands can run a creator's work as an ad from the creator's own YouTube channel or Snapchat profile, with their name and picture on the ad and the brand as sponsor. It follows the same steps as Instagram and TikTok: you ask, the creator does one thing, the platform confirms.

| | Snapchat | YouTube |
| --- | --- | --- |
| You ask for | One of the creator's approved submissions, with their Snapchat username | A Short or video already on YouTube, added to your library by its link |
| The creator | Accepts your invite in Snapchat (Profile › Settings › Pending invitations) | Approves your link in YouTube Studio (Google emails it to them) |
| Lucra confirms | Every hour, with Snapchat | Every hour, with Google |
| You run it | Set the campaign's `settings.creator` to the authorization's `platformProfileId` | Put the post's `sub_` ID in a Google campaign's `creatives` |

The full flow, requests and examples are in [Run as creator](https://www.onlucra.com/docs/run-as-creator). Either side can end it: on the platform, or with `PATCH /v1/ad-authorizations/:id` and `{ "status": "revoked" }`.

## During the beta

- Snapchat's Public Profile data comes from an API Snap approves Lucra for; until that approval is in place, Snapchat posts may not import.
- YouTube needs Google's review of the permissions Lucra asks for. Until it's done, Google shows creators an "unverified app" screen when they connect.
- What counts and how it's paid won't change. Wording, screens and the hourly cadence may.
